Two Tractor Trailers Collide in Cromwell

An afternoon tractor trailer accident on Friday left Interstate 91 shut down in Cromwell. Three cars were also involved in the accident.

The accident happened just after 3 p.m. prior to exit 21. For about two hours, all northbound lanes came to stop and police were directing traffic off the highway at exit 20. One lane of southbound traffic was also blocked off in that area.
One of trucks was a tanker carrying diesel and the other truck was carrying flour.

The freeway was opened back up to traffic by 6 p.m. The police are investigating the accident. There were no reports of any serious injuries.
